Melissa and Chris, May 20 2006

Wedding: St. Hedwigs, Milwaukee's fashionable east side!
Reception: The Woman's Club on Kilbourn

I had not had the pleasure of meeting this couple before their wedding. That's not totally unusual for me, about 60% of my clients are from out of state and thanks to the wonder of the web planning a wedding is so much easier now and some times the first face to face is when I get to the venue and look for the girl in the veil! But when I talked to Melissa I knew from the conversations we had that she was a person who had such an excellent outlook on her life, a person who took nothing for granted and who counted her blessings more than she counted the hardships. She told me at one point on the phone: "I'm not worried about the wedding, I know I'll be nervous, but the point is I get to marry my best friend. It will all work out".

She enjoyed every minute of her day. It shone on her face all day. At the bottom of the pictures here, click on the link for the slideshow of Melissa and Chris' wedding and see Melissa marry her best friend.

Do I have the best job in the world? I think so!

Sherri and Mike
May 13, 2006

Wedding: First Lutheran Church, Middleton, WI
Reception: University Club, Madison, WI

I don't know what kind of rain dance Sherri and Mike did, but after 4 solid days of rain somehow it held off in just the times we needed it to on their wedding day and turned out to be a gorgeous day! They were married in a historic old church built in the late 1800's and preserved beautifully. We were even able to make a trip to the Capitol and stroll down Observatory Hill for some fun pictures.

At the reception, I was charmed by Sherri's nieces who sat with me at dinner and told me their life stories. They were fun and LOVED having their picture taken! Then, a special guest arrived. The looks on Sherri and Mike's faces when a very special mascot came in the room was priceless. Who knew Bucky could do the YMCA?

Kara and Brian

May 6, 2006Wedding: St Nicholas Church, Decata WI
Reception: Osthoff Resort, Elkhart Lake, WI

When I woke up the morning on Kara and Brian’s wedding I looked out the window and jumped up and down for joy. The curse of the Osthoff was lifted! You see, I have photographed at this lovely resort 6 different times and each time it has either rained cats and dogs or it was in the dead of winter with horrible wind chills. But this fine May day we would be able to be outside! Kara and Brian’s wedding was in a really great old historic church in Decata. Where? That’s what I said. It’s near-ish to Sheboygan pretty much in the middle of nowhere, Wisconsin. But wonderful architecture and detail that you really only see in older churches.

And if you want to make your wedding photographer REALLY happy, you have three desserts at your wedding. Crème Brulee, an ice cream bar AND cake. It’s the little things that mean a lot.

Kara and Brian, don’t come home from that cruise you are on right now. It’s 38 and it snowed here yesterday. Have a great honeymoon and bring back some sun!

Engagement sessions!

I love doing engagement sessions. The best part about them is the varied places you can do them in this area. I’ve done sessions at people’s homes, at parks, the third ward…you name it, I’ll go there. The great thing about engagement sessions is that I find the guys usually relax a bit more about photos on their wedding day . Let’s face it, most guys hate to be photographed. Once they spend an hour not doing totally cheesy, forced poses their smiles become more natural and I’m not so scary anymore J

Take a look at some of my favorites from this past year, and if you’re interested in a session, give me a call!
